How to Reply to a Survivor's Message
This article is for a:
Case Worker
The Communication tab in a survivor's record shows every message between you and that survivor, with a date and time on each. Reply to any message, email or SMS, directly from this tab.
Start a reply
Open the survivor's record and go to the Communication tab.
Hover over the right side of the message, where the date and time sit. A reply icon (an arrow pointing left) appears.
Click the reply icon. Your reply attaches to that specific message, whether it came in as an SMS or an email.
Reply to an email
A mail icon next to the survivor's name marks a message as an email.
When you click the reply icon on an email, the reply box opens with:
The subject line pre-filled as "Re:" plus the original subject.
The survivor's email address filled in automatically.
Anyone CC'd on the original message carried over into the CC field. Remove them if they don't need to be included.
The reply box has the same formatting tools as a new email: bold, links, headers, quotes, and lists. Format the reply however makes it easiest for the survivor to read.
Attach files
Click the plus sign at the bottom of the reply box. A drop zone opens.
Add up to 5 files, each up to 25MB. Files over 25MB will not send.
Reply to a text (SMS)
Hover over the survivor's text message and click the reply icon.
Type your reply in the SMS box. It is tied directly to the message you selected.
Send your reply
Click "Send." After sending, you have a short window to click "Undo." Undo pulls the message back into the text box so you can make changes before it goes out.
To start a new message instead of replying to an existing one, see the guides on how to send an SMS or how to send an email.
