About the role
A trusted voice in their time of need
Bright Harbor Advisors are trusted guides who help survivors navigate recovery after federally declared disasters. You will meet people at one of the most challenging moments of their lives and help them find clarity, plan their next steps, and rebuild with confidence.
Flexible response opportunities
Support 20 to 80 clients per month during activations, providing steady and compassionate guidance.
Meaningful impact
Lead survivors through onboarding, recovery planning, and key decisions that help them move forward with confidence.
Structured programs
Share vetted resources, vendor referrals, and clear next steps tailored to each client’s situation.
Paid training
You will complete up to 30 hours of training to develop the skills and confidence needed to guide survivors through recovery.
CRITERIA
What we're looking for
As a Bright Harbor Advisor, you will be part of a nationwide network that activates during major disasters. You will connect with survivors remotely, help them understand their recovery options, and guide them through every stage of rebuilding, from the first assessment to connecting with services and support.
Advisors are at the heart of our mission and serve as the main point of contact for families and individuals throughout their recovery journey.
Flexibility
Disasters can strike with no warning. You should be available to activate on short notice, part-time or full-time, when disasters occur. This opportunity is a great

Lived experience or expertise
Experience is not required. If you have lived through a disaster and want to help others do the same, or if you have worked in disaster response or recovery, housing support, case management, or community rebuilding, we'd love to hear from you. Strong communication skills, organization, and empathy matter most.
Grit and character
You're a self-starter who takes initiative, stays organized, and follows through. You should be an excellent communicator who leads with empathy and emotional intelligence. We're looking for people who are dependable, ethical, and motivated by a genuine desire to help others rebuild.
